Octopus user rights

The « Permissions » tab contains the rights for Octopus users.

CIs related permissions

            Check the GRANTED box if the user can create a CI, modify a CI or modify CI status.

Incident related permissions

            Check the GRANTED box if the user can assign an incident, close an incident, create an incident, modify activity log or modify an incident.

General permissions

            Check the GRANTED box if the user can administrate Octopus or override SLA required Date.

ž      User can administrate Octopus: indicates that the user has administrative rights within the application, such as:

o        Reference data management rights;

o        User password allocation rights;

o        User permission allocation rights;

o        SLA management rights;

o        Capacity to download a backup of the database.

ž      User can override SLA Required date: Indicates that the user has the right to modify the “DUE” date field in the incident form. This date is calculated by the SLA.

For more information about the field « DUE » date, click here.

In the following example, the user who has submitted that incident takes a one week leave. The support center’s manager, who would have the latter option enabled, may thus modify the September 15, 2006 date without breaching the SLA. The manager would do this in order to enable the technician to fix the issue with the scanner on the user’s station at the moment of his return from vacation.
