Software management

The application enables you to manage the software installed upon your computers.

The application provides prompt answers to the two following questions:

  1. What software is installed on workstation X?
  2. On which workstations is software Y installed?

By automating computer inspection, the application automatically maintains the list of installed software.

Automatic software detection

When the computer inspection program analyses a computer, it finds all the installed programs that are listed in “Add / Remove Programs”.

For each piece of software, the program establishes a relationship between it and the computer on which it is installed.

Once the inspection has been performed, you may:

1) View the list of software installed on a given computer:

2) View the list of computers upon which a given piece of software is installed:

Managing non-managed software

It is possible that the computer inspection program will detect software that you do not wish to see in the application (drivers, tools, etc).

This type of software is called non-managed software.

The application enables you to hide this software in order to facilitate the management of supported software.

To mark a piece of software as “non-managed”:

  1. Search for the software either by performing a search or by viewing the “Software” list.
  2. Open the software’s management form (CI form)
  3. Uncheck the “managed software” checkbox.
  4. Save the changes.

Even if the software is marked as non-managed, the computer configuration inspection program will continue to maintain the relationships between that software and the computers upon which it is installed.

Non-managed software view

A piece of software marked as “non-managed” is no longer visible from within the application and cannot be retrieved by means of a search. The only way to view this software is by means of the “Non-managed software” view, accessible via the configuration management module.

By means of this list, you can open a non-managed software’s form and see upon which computers it is installed.
