Configuration
management module |
The configuration management module enables to manage
all equipment and software composing your IT infrastructure.
The ITIL-based practice of change management involves the
identification, monitoring, maintenance, and verification of all physical
components, called “Configuration Items” (CIs), forming part of an IT
infrastructure.
A configuration item is any physical component
(hardware of software) of an IT infrastructure that needs to be monitored in
order to ensure the convened level of service.
CIs are recorded in a configuration management
database (CMDB).
One of the interesting aspects of configuration
management concerns the management of relationships between CIs. For instance,
the relationship “is installed on” enables you to obtain the list of computers
on which a given piece of software is installed. Conversely, the relationship
“has installed” enables to obtain the list of software installed on a given
computer.

This form is specially designed for expedient CI
creation.
Each CI type enables you to view a list of
configuration items of that type.
The left side menu contains the most frequently
accessed views, whereas the other CI views are accessible via the drop-down
list.
The “In stock” list contains all available CIs while the
“Under repair” list contains the CIs currently under repair.
Use the search box located in the left side menu to
find a CI by specifying its name, its inventory number or its serial number.
The left side menu contains several actions enabling
to update the CIs.
The CI form enables you to consult and manage a CI’s
detailed information.
