Update the computer’s configuration attributes (WMI)

 

The “Update the computer’s configuration attributes (WMI)” action enables to automatically update the information concerning the computer’s configuration. 

 

Note that the default installation of Windows Server 2003 does not include the WMI component for the detection of installed software.

To install this component :

1 – Go to “Windows Add / Remove Programs”

2 – Click on “Windows Components”

3 – Click on “Management and Monitoring Tools”

4 – Click on “Details”

5 – Check the “WMI Windows Installer Provider” box

 

Here is the configuration information which is imported:

 

o        MAC address;

o        Hard drive capacity;

o        Network adapter, display adapter;

o        Manufacturer;

o        RAM;

o        Model;

o        Serial number;

o        Operating system;

o        Processor type;

It must be noted that the configuration inspection can be automated to run each night in order to update the configuration information of all computers.
